The American Society of Bariatric Physicians is a leading national professional organization providing physicians and other health professionals with education in the medical management of weight loss and related medical conditions.

The ASBP is the primary source for clinical education and training for the non-surgical medical management of obesity.

The American Board of Bariatric Medicine was established to serve the public and the field of bariatric medicine through the establishment and maintenance of criteria and procedures for examination and certification of physicians who seek recognition of their accomplishments in bariatric medicine.

The vision of the Society is to improve public health and well being by lessening the burden of the disease of obesity and related diseases throughout the world.

The American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons has been established by plastic surgeons that specialize in body contouring surgery specifically for patients that have lost significant amounts of weight through non-surgical means such as diet or exercise or through the various bariatric procedures.

Bariatric surgery accreditation not only promotes uniform standard benchmarks, but also supports continuous quality improvement.

The National Association of Bariatric Nurses was formed in 2004 out of a recognized need for the nursing profession to dedicate resources, knowledge, and research towards improving the life and nursing care of people suffering from obesity.

The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) is the national association committed to improving patient safety in the surgical setting. AORN is a premier resource for perioperative nurses, advancing the profession and the professional with valuable guidance as well as networking and resource-sharing opportunities.

The International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) is a federation composed of national associations of bariatric surgeons.
Currently, there are 40 official member associations of IFSO. There are also individual members from countries that thus far have not formed a national association.

The Obesity Action Coalition is an IRS registered 501(c)3 National non profit organization dedicated to giving a voice to those affected by obesity. The OAC was formed to build a nationwide coalition of those affected to become active advocates and spread the important message of the need for obesity education.

The Obesity Society is the leading scientific society dedicated to the study of obesity. Since 1982, The Obesity Society has been committed to encouraging research on the causes and treatment of obesity, and to keeping the medical community and public informed of new advances.
