AliMed® Releases "Bariatric-Ready" Facility-Retrofit Guide

Printer-friendly version

June 14, 2011, Dedham, MAAliMed has announced the release of a 16-page guide devoted entirely to helping facilities accommodate bariatric patients and their visitors while also addressing the need for facilities to meet required bariatric standards.

According to AliMed Senior Product Manager Alan Bingham, this publication is AliMed’s response to the rising obese population, declining reimbursements within facilities, and the risk of F-tag (246) citations. Said Bingham, “Rebuilding facilities and fully outfitting them with higher weight capacity equipment is financially prohibitive. Customers are looking to refurbish their facilities to accommodate bariatric patients and avoid citations. This guide helps them accomplish this on a budget.”

The guide also includes innovative products that illustrate how a facility can upgrade bathrooms, bedrooms, waiting areas, and clinical rooms simply and economically.

AliMed Senior VP of Sales and Marketing Jon Bretz said, “This publication is a simple guide full of sensible, economically justifiable products that can retrofit a facility, room by room, to accommodate the needs of bariatric patients and their visitors.”

The publication was mailed to AliMed customers in May and can be requested, free, by requesting publication 6617 – “Is your Facility Bariatric Ready?”
